Stashbusting Idea: Crochet a Scrapghan for Dolls
In a stashbusting mood and need some ideas to use up all that scrap yarn? There are tons of ways to use up that extra yarn, but I’d like to share with you a quick and fun project that my youngest son really appreciated: Make a scrap blanket for your kid’s stuffed toys.
This works up fast and is nice therapeutic mindless crochet. You can even use a doll scrapghan as an excuse to try out a new stitch or technique.
hoarding collecting all my yarn scraps over time, I came across this great idea on Fresh Stitches to make a magic ball. A magic ball is your very own ball of artisan yarn that you would pay nicely for from someone else. They are really fun to make. You connect all your scraps using the Russian join and wind them up until you have a truly unique ball of yarn to work with of various colors and fibers. I’m sure this works out really well if you are organized and whatnot and separate your scraps by weight.
And then just crochet away! I had fun making a few doll sized scrap blankets. It was nice to see colors come together that I normally wouldn’t have mixed.
I think this would also be a great way to use up left over yarn when making a blanket for a child and give their stuffed toy a matching blankie.
And here is Ducky with his new blanket, all ready for bed.
What’s your favorite stashbusting project? How do you use up scraps? Let me know in the comments.
